We
are proud to sponsor and run the most successful and continuous operational
Community Civilian Patrol in Queens County, in collaboration with and
under the supervision of the New York City Police Department.
For more than 18 consecutive years, the Rosedale Community Volunteer Civilian Patrol program assist the New York City Police for the increased personal safety of community residents and visitors, and the enhanced protection of personal and business properties.
Before they start their volunteer patrol functions, all patrol participants receive a very comprehensive training from the 105th Precinct of the New York City Police Department. Refresher courses are also available. Some of the participants have also benefited from additional advanced training provided at the Police Academy site.
The Rosedale Civilian Patrol participants go through background checks with the Police Department before they are issued picture identification cards.
The weekly Press of South-Eastern Queens featured the Rosedale Volunteer Civilian Patrol in its November 15-21, 2002 edition.
The effectiveness of the patrol program, its operational structure and the renowned efficiency of its system of communication with the Police have been reviewed and thoroughly analyzed, as working models for possible duplication, considering the long “S” shaped territory of the Police Precinct, where there are over 6.25 miles from the Precinct’s farthest northern boundary to the south-eastern end of Rosedale.
The Rosedale Civilian Patrol will join the "Interlock/Inter watch/Queen swatch” radio network program of the Association for a Better New York.
