John A. DiMotta“Community Advocacy Award

In May 2003 the Board of Governors of your Rosedale Civic Association decided to institute the Annual Community Advocacy Award in honor of the late John A DiMotta a resident of Rosedale for more than five decades at the time of his passing, John was the resident historian of Rosedale’s evolution from a farm community, to a retreat place with only Summer homes, and later to the current all year residential suburban-like enclave of today.Rosedale Citizen

The Community Advocacy Award is named after John A. DiMotta, because like Kenneth Haslam who had convinced his fellow business associates to start the Rosedale Civic Association, John was totally dedicated to the continuous improvement of this community and the betterment of conditions for all the residents of Rosedale. John fought against racial prejudices, ethnic biases and all forms of injustice. He was an excellent public speaker, a good communicator, and he helped in the formation of useful partnerships and in building of important alliances.

Since the award is given by the Rosedale Civic Association, all of its officers and board members are automatically excluded. A review committee of five persons to include representatives of both clergy and business, and three members of the executive committee of the Board of Governors will make the final selection.
