SUPPORTING BALANCED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The Rosedale Civic Association Economic Development Support Project is specifically designed to promote a fair illustration of Rosedale as one of the “best places to live, work and play” in the New York City Metropolitan area, and to also facilitate the development of a progressive “Rosedale Independent Chamber of Commerce”.

To support, encourage and facilitate a well-balanced community, the Board of Governors of the Association adopted in 2002 this multi-phased Rosedale Beautification and Economic Development Initiative.Rosedale Citizen

Firstly, there were the commissioned wood carved “Welcome to Rosedale” signs and the newly designed White medal signs with Blue lettering about the “Rosedale Civilian Patrol” at all entrance points to the Rosedale community.

Secondly, on the commercial strips and the main thoroughfares, Blue Custom Display Banners with Gold Lettering highlighted twelve (12) positive messages relating to Rosedale’s semi-bucolic and suburban-like quality of life, and also promoting the multiple opportunities within Rosedale for economic development and sustained growth.

Thirdly, we had the installation of the large “72”x48” sign “Rosedale, Community of Harmony” at the triple junction of Francis Lewis Boulevard, 243rd Street, and Sunrise Highway/ South Conduit Avenue.

Fourthly, the detailed surveys which have revealed that Rosedale has a greater number of incorporated businesses, general stores, and many non-incorporated establishments in operation than many larger areas of Queens as well as several towns and villages in Nassau County.

Also noted was that the full strength of the Rosedale Business community has not been fully recognized, because Rosedale does not have one single Main Street, and the businesses and stores are rather scattered on at least six (6) commercial strips of different lengths or sizes. Consequently an Independent Rosedale Chamber of Commerce will emphasize multiple asset locations as exceptional opportunities.
